Hi,
My name is Rob Ferreira.
I am a desert storm veteran and have been building models for over 30 years, with some breaks in between.
My main interest lies in building destroyed and/or heavily weathered vehicles and scratch building.
I am always trying to come up with new techniques of painting and weathering destroyed vehicles and wrecks.
Welcome to the Scratchmod website
Most military model military model
builders are familiar with the few remaining WWII tanks WWII tanks that are displayed in
museums in the United States and Europe, but what about the rare relics that are
dispersed throughout Eastern Europe.
Most of the tanks that are sitting in
the elements are in poor condition with many of the original parts damaged or
missing altogether.
As with anything made of metal that is out of doors for a
long period of time, mother nature takes over and oxidation starts immediately.
These tanks are often referred to by model builders model builders as rust buckets.
These rusty
tanks display various shades of rust, and faded paint schemes that are a
challenge to many modelers. With the newest techniques and weathering material
available in the hobby, painting one of these rusty relics is much easier than
it seams.
To get an idea of what the rust on a tank looks like, you simply
have to go outdoors and you will see rust on almost anything that is metal. A
good example is an older car showing signs of rust, or construction equipment,
and even a large dumpster. Of course the internet is a great source for rusty
photo references.
The purpose of this website is to share tips and tricks for military scale modelers on how to skillfully destroy, wreck and trash a tank model tank model.
Please visit my blog often, as I will keep posting my latest projects there. You will also be able to post your comments there.
You will find techniques I am using here.
My latest projects will be posted under current projects.
