Davy Jones

Davy Jones was the name of a Marine tank of A co. 5th TB fighting on Iwo Jima in the PTO ( Pacific Theatre of Operations). This tank was knocked out and not recoverable, on D+14 according to my references available. Going by the one and only photo I have of Davy Jones, I decided to build my first Sherman tank.

Since this is my first Sherman I went with the Italeri kit of the M4 with wading trunks. I also decided not to use techniques such as HS and salt, just plain old painting. The reason being that I am writing an article that I will submit to a magazine, on how to paint a burnt out tank.

This was a fun model to build even without fancy techniques,and I will definitely build another Sherman.
