Hi all,
I used a Dragon Jagdtiger #6285 kit for this. I got this kit at the AMPS East show for $25 and figured I'd finally build a JT wreck. After looking at the interior and gun breech my plans changed from an all out wreck to what I'm calling a sitting duck. I'll be knocking this JT out but not doing much to the inside and concentrating on the exterior painting. It will be a JT that got stuck in the mud and was hit MANY times by enemy fire.
I don't have any progress pics to post yet as I'm still working on the interior, but once it's done and ready for paint I'll post the pics.
I'm looking forward to painting this baby because as you well know I like to have fun and experiment so stay tuned.
Here are some progress pics. I started working on the interior, and decided to just use what is supplied in the kit, which isn't very much. I was planning on scratchbuilding the fire wall with some detail stuff, but after dry fitting the upper and lower I realized that nothing would be visible. The blank fire wall was glued in place and the kit supplied interior glued up and primed.

Here is the primed and base coated interior. the gun mount and gun are to be painted since some of it will be seen.

Here the gun has received a dark thick oil wash and rust powder/pigments added , then dried with a hair dryer.

A nice heavy coat of hair spray and some salt added.

The trusty hair dryer makes quick work of the drying, and no it's not my hair dryer because I have no hair to dry
.

Back to the gun, a couple of light coats of Tamiya white with a drop of buff.

And here is how it looks with the HS and salt removed.

And some oil washes, nice and dirty eh.

This is how it will stay after the oils were dried and some rust and black powder added for the rusted and sooty looking wreck. Total painting time was about 45 min.

Ok I did the weld seams on the front and rear of the hull using Squadron white putty and my home made welding tools. These have come in handy over the years.

I added some more of the kit parts and will start the PE soon. The
torsion bars are on stand by until I decide on what I'll do with the
base.
The kit supplied screens are glued on and look pretty good I think.

A shot of the pock marks on the glacis plate and an overall front end view.

Well the build part is finally done. I took some pics and thought I would post them before I hit the hay. I soldered the front and rear fenders and added some battle damage to them. As you can see there are no tools mounted on the tank, I wanted to show a vehicle that has been sitting a week or two. The tools would have been taken by advancing forces or civilians. I added some very fine copper wire to the upper hull which would have been used to secure the branches/brush used as camo. The pics don't show the wheels yet, but they are done and waiting to be mounted.

Here are a couple of test shots of what the tank will look like on the base.

My usual base coat of dark brown and black. On this I added liquid mask to certain areas and the pockmarks.

I used Valejo paint as a primer red color.

I added some salt to hopefully show some primer color and add a bit of color to the model.

The tanks color was applied, in this case just DG and no camo. I did a bit of color mod to the yellow, it's a bit bright now but will darken when the washes and filter is on.
The following pics show the removal of the salt and liquid mask. This was done without water and a soft wire brush.

I started the weathering with some filtering using 502 Abteilung and Windsor& Newton oils for the dark wash.

Next came the rust using pigments and the real thing. I also used pastel chalks on the grayed areas.

This is how the model stands at the moment. There is still a lot to do, including working on a base.
