Weathering a wooden pallet using AK Interactive products
I was doing something new , working with real wood to get a feel for it
and also to learn how to paint and weather the wood. Here is a pallet
that I used to experiment with. The pallet is made from strips of balsa wood and glued together with wood glue.I used various AK washes, filters, slimy
green and the rain marks to get the effects on this old pallet.
I
started by applying one wash or filter at a time, not really letting it
dry like you normally would with a painted model. I let the wash sit
for a few minutes then I removed the excess with a large damp brush.
This was repeated until I was happy with the color and also the effects
created.
I then used the slimy grime and light filters for further effects. The colored paint was done with Vallejo acrylics.
To replicate the nail heads and two nails that stick up out of the wood I used stretched sprue, and inserted the "nails" in pre-drilled holes. These were then painted with Vallejo acrylics and AK rust effects.
This was a very fun experiment with real wood and hope to use this technique on a future project.
